What People Think...

I first found out about Dru Yoga through a magazine article and made enquiries as to where my nearest class was. It was 40 minutes away and Gülcan was the teacher... So there it started and I love it I would go to a class everyday if I could. Gülcan always seems to know what is best for me whenever I'm there because every class reflects my mood at the time. Apart from stress relief and the pure relaxation I injured my coccyx falling down the stairs and within 3 months of doing Dru the pain had gone. I love going to her classes some lovely people there and it's always a laugh and some great words of wisdom at the end of each class.

I started to practice yoga in my late 40s. It was a challenge. However, I was (and still am) lucky to have Gülcan as a teacher. She has been inspiring and supporting. She has gently encouraged me to challenge myself and has guided me through my yoga journey. She is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher and each of her classes is a unique and rewarding experience.

My favourite thing about Dru Yoga is the graceful and flowing sequences to a background of mesmerising music. I love the way I am always left feeling stretched, calm, relaxed and connected. Dru Yoga has definitely improved my strength and flexibility and also helps to clear my mind. I look forward to my weekly class with Gülcan who has a lovely, peaceful aura and always creates a fun, interesting class.

Gülcan has an amazing ability to bring positive thoughts and visualisations into the flow of her classes, that leave me feeling upbeat and energised. After her flowing yoga practice, I always feel completely relaxed and recharged. The relaxations afterwards are heavenly.

The 2013 trip was one of the best yoga retreats I have attended. It far exceeded my expectations. The yoga practice was challenging and varied; the hotel staff gave excellent service; the facilities and accommodation were just right. The unique location of the hotel added a magical quality which cocooned us from the rest of reality – it was like being in a different world. A highlight for me was the extraordinary rapport between the group - I can honestly say that I enjoyed everyone’s company and we all seemed to ‘click’. Thanks to you both for giving so much of yourselves to make this such a memorable holiday.

I have been going to yoga classes for a few years with Gülcan as the teacher. About 3 years ago I had a back operation and after months of inactivity I was in very poor shape. Luckily there was a beginner yoga course, which she advised me to do. This was a huge turning point for me as under her guidance I soon started being able to get back to normal activities again and I felt much more positive. Her classes tend to flow and are beneficial to young and old. Everyone I have spoken to has enjoyed them immensely.

I have been taking weekly yoga classes with Gülcan for four years now, and have been amazed at the changes I have seen in my middle-aged body. I have more flexibility, balance and core strength than I have ever had, and Gülcan’s teaching has everything to do with this. Her lessons are progressive, building slowly up from gentle stretching to much more challenging postures whilst her gentle humour allows it to be fun. After the guided relaxation at the end of the class I always feel re-energized and ready for the week. You should try it!

I really enjoy the Dru yoga class each Thursday with Gülcan. The class is friendly and informal. We start off with gentle exercises and then progress to different postures and sequences. I find this helps with flexibility and reducing any aches and pains caused by sitting at a computer all day. After half an hour or so I’m feeling a lot more relaxed – the day’s stress is now ebbing away. We end the class with some relaxation and meditation which is very soothing. I go home feeling calm but energised.

I have been attending Gülcan's weekly classes for over 3 years, I am now fitter and more flexible, my stress levels are down and I feel more confident in myself than I was before. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of starting yoga to try Gülcan's classes, they are the highlight of my week.

I have been attending a weekly yoga class taught by Gülcan for about four years. The classes have helped me to reduce and manage my stress levels effectively through breathing and relaxation, develop flexibility in my body I never knew I had and helped me to maintain the momentum of incorporating exercise in a busy life. Gülcan is a great teacher, she is patient and understanding and makes you feel welcome and at ease, regardless of ability. Classes can sometimes be very challenging but are always enjoyable.

My wife and I went on a yoga holiday organised by Tina and Gülcan at the Sultan Palas Hotel, Dalyan, Turkey. It was the best yoga holiday we have ever had, and possibly ranks as one of our best ever holidays given the sense of fun and laughter throughout the week.

Tina and Gülcan had the balance between Yoga and relaxation perfectly right. They are both excellent yoga teachers and the yoga sessions were very enjoyable, not too strenuous but challenging at times. They organised a lot of optional activities for the time between the morning and evening yoga which were excellent, although take care with Gülcan's mountain walk!!. If you wanted you could just relax by the pool.

The hotel was in a lovely location being just outside the town on the local river and accessible by boat only. Food was very good and the communal dinners in the evening were great fun. Weather was great. The hotel is a small family run concern, with everyone very friendly and rooms and facilities good (although obviously not 4 star given the size of the hotel).

Overall a great yoga holiday that we would recommend to anyone who enjoys yoga, warm weather and a fun atmosphere.
